Southern Cross homes are they mad ?

the reason why southern cross are in trouble is there staff to resident ratio ?
here is an image from there brochure :

they have 44,916 staff serving 32,892 people ? a greater than one to one ratio sounds highly innefficient ! is this really correct ?

I’m also sure there rents are too high probably (speculative property market included).

But also they are no doubt milking money from the government for local authority fees as well as stripping private residents of money : in fact when you get old it looks like its going to cost you £553.00 a week to live ! as an able bodied person its costing me around £200.00 a week to live in a bedsit type environment. the simplest solution to the cost of old age is not to live too long.

this is evidence if any were needed that private taxation is supporting an ineffecient public sector based welfare system run by private companies for shareholder profit.

any company that has to provide shareholder dividends is going to find it harder to survive in tougher times than a not for profit.

“it gets better” campaign

schmaltzy … possibly … most people dont care about people … fact. learn this now , with the billions on this planet its difficult to know anyone truly even if your in a relationship with them, sex is not the same as knowing someone, you will or will not live your life to your own satisfaction this will be the outcome which doesnt really matter. be assured nature is the only thing that shows you a balanced hand, humans are partial always, thats why they are less than soothing, so this video “it gets better” project is some form of coded gay support thing ? look if your gay … its ok … just whatever your sexuality is, its not interesting so dont shove it in my face, show some taste.

Lands end and John O groats sign > photograph charges

The famous Signposts at Lands end and John O groats attractions :

John o' Groats

John o' Groats not the most northerly point in the UK Mainland

These famous signposts and the sites themselves at either end are both owned by the same business “Heritage Attractions Limited” or is it “Heritage UK” ? at either end of the country, a name designed to make a private company try to sound like it’s a national government backed agency or something, and in opening hours during the tourist season there is a charge of £10.00 per person to take your photograph next to the infamous signs at either end of the journey, for this you get an an 8 x 10 print posted anywhere in the UK and they put the lettering up on the sign etc, which is ok value, but to be honest, admiteadly its not more than thorpe park would charge for a photo on a log flume or something, but I dont think that either end of the “end to end” should be turned into some kind of themepark ? and since practically every one has a digital camera these days, this service in my opinion is just milking it too far, and after hours and out of season the sign is reduced to a plain post as both directional fingers and the roundel on top are removed to prevent people from getting their evidential photograph standing next to the sign for free, which seems to me demonstrate something of the kind of highland welcome they should not be promoting in their tourist industry ? I should not get too aggressive at John Carter who I believe is still the photographer in question ? as many have said he’s a nice enough guy ? but I cannot vouch for what goes on at John O Groats, no doubt there some local/familial and private investor squabbling that goes on, that can often turn, once lovely locations like this into somekind of hotbed of powermongering and plotting to control some ailing tourist cash register, as is the case with most private ownership in this country.

John o Groats no fingers no roundel

John o Groats no fingers no roundel

the photo is borrowed from a very good article about the general sorry state of john o groats in a great article on urban realm which can be read by clicking this link, they also seem to run something called the carbuncle award, which surely has too many contenders architecturally in britain

This seems uncivilised, that both these sign locations are privately owned, they should obviously be free as when people come to these uk furthest points, they will spend money in the facilities on site and the nearby area anyway, therefore people should be able to freely take their own photograph next to the signs, or perhaps english heritage should purchase them ? as currently this charge sadly bookends what by foot is a personal and epic pilgrimage of britain, with a really touristic tacky experience at either end, quite unpleasant, and not british in nature.

Dunnet Head

Dunnet Head the real most northerly point on the UK mainland

Dunnet Head the real most northerly point on the UK mainland

dunnet head

Dunnet head is in fact the geographically most northern point on the UK mainland, and John O Groats is the grockle cash register they built at a convenient ferry crossing point, they want you to visit to spend your cash, which apart from it being geographically incorrect, wouldn’t be so bad if they hadn’t run to the extent of charging you to stand next to the sign ? which is egregiously money orientated, after all tourists would no doubt spend money there, but to be charged for standing next to a sign is just plain cheap and gouging ! My advice get your journey stamped in the post office > take your photo next to the dunnet head sign, and visit john o groats for a bit to eat and drink, and you if you feel the necessity of the sign itself being in your photo album then pay for that also, as regardless of how crass it seems to pay for a photo with a sign, its no worse than any other horrifically over commercialised places in the UK.

to resume :
toilets are 20p (sadly most of the public lavatories have gone) I blame cottaging and weak councils)
a cup of tea at John O groats ? no idea anyone got any experience on that front ?
take your photo with the sign > £10.00 larger photos cost more. once youve paid you can also take digital photos too.

still there isnt free footpath data in digital form from the OS

complaint to the ordnance survey

I wish to make three complaints

1: as a person who has a degree in Graphic information design, turning the symbolic old symbol of christian churches a cross into the letters of PW (place of worship) how bloody non descript and weak an expression, this is an abomination, which person / pressure group organised this symbols swap to letters scenario ? the eye then has to differentiate this text from other text this isnt as efficient for the eye as differentiating a symbol from text which has a greater natural graphic seperation in the first place, this has no doubt be done to appease some ethnic groups somewhere, i find it denigrating and personally offensive that you have done this, not that im am in anyway part of any organised religion, as a graphic purist you are removing usefull information from the map, even if its a mosque (crescant symbol) … i want to know, if its a church (the old cross symbol) i want to know, small overly PC cowtowing no doubt idiot government approved of chivying denigrations such as these are continuously damaging my culture, it offends me your organisation gives way to this idiocy.

2: the “GetaMap” service (nice marketing slogan led era we live in today) well its a really great service, build your own walk with waypoints … stopoffs … point of interest …walking times … fantastic ………up to the point …… at which you need to use the information ? if i can’t get the route that ive constructed on the getamap website as anything other than static A4 printout for a £1, how really usefull is it to me in this technological age ? did you think about the environment and wasted paper you are creating with this one decision alone ? I guess you think your saving the environment compared to people buying full maps which are printed, I need it as digital information to go into a gps smartphone/iphone so I can live track myself on my route with all the points of interest and pubs as an itinerary, with perhaps a virtual walker on the same route travelling at my estimated speed so I can see whether im ahead or behind my schedule, then it would be a truly amazing service.

Do you fear … that you might be giving the people to much information from the information pile, they have paid you to collect in the first place ! whether as in your founding by charter of a warring king who taxed his people to pay for you, or through all the moneys that ultimately flowed from the people over the years to your organisation. I dont believe you should have no ways of generating revenue, I just believe that you should be making most of your money from commercial organisations, planning etc and not individual walkers.

oh there is memorymap digital maps … I hear you say ? well I’d only need 69 of those at £100.00 ie £6900 to get the whole of the UK at 1:25000 not even 1:10000, i would truly love to know what the vector based(ie not as images) dataset of britain at 1:10000 would be digital data size wise with all the information relevant to walkers, 32gb ? 2tb ? which ever way the idea that this could be squeezed into a handheld gps navigating device, seems possible to me.

3: The fact that in this day and age I still cannot get access to a whole or protions of a free 1:10000 digital footpath map for my own country is an embarassment for the OS, long may openstreetmap continue to grow and be contributed too by the ordinary public, so that one day we do have an organisation that is open and for the people in this digital age rather than being dependant on a public exploiting organisation like the OS, so that we the people can have our footpath knowledge for ourselves in a digital form, after all it was the ordinary people and the drovers and hard working sods over thousands of years of drudgery, who created the majority of the paths with their footfall in the firstplace. the footpaths are one of the small remaining symbols of some of the last public ownership and rights in this country that no matter how poor and disenfranchised you maybe in society, you can take advantage of on a nice walk, in a nation so consumerist, overmarketed, fractured, divided, outsourced, privatised and apportioned into the hands of the selfish few and private wealth international ownership brigade, it is a tragedy you dont make this footpath data freely available to people.

A British Native

ebay rip of sellers no doubt about it.

ebay fees in total are so far running at 18/19% of my sales total, and this for serving some web pages up for 20 days ? Ebay is a FUCKING RIP OFF !!!.
so let me clarify ive taken 1102.00 in sales, ebay have in fees so far charged me 196.00 in relation to this
my postage costs are around £200.00
so in total ive made around £700.00

and this isnt even taking into account the 3% theyre taking for me to receive money, or the the 3% they also make on me paying those fees with paypal ?

My work :

now lets get this straight im providing my goods, writing clear descriptions and edvertising material for the sale, taking good photographs of each item, cleaning the items and carefully packaging and taking them down the post office.

The delivery persons work :

he is taking the parcels physically to my customer.

ebays work :

serving a few web pages for a couple of weeks and taking some digital payments, all of which is automated and involves no persons actual labour.

Why the fuck are they skimming 20% of all peoples second hand good sales ? for practically no work

FUCK ME do ebay need some competition the reason this shower of shit can get away with this behaviour is because they have a monopoly, and they justify it to feed their greedy fucking shareholders. whilst everyone else is actually doing the work.

and how the fuck do these chinese sellers make any money at all ? in this scenario ?

if ebay were doing google mail theyd be charging 50p per email, how these theives get away with it i’ll never know

ebay fee increases and how and why they will get away with it.

15% for a real auction house that has massive overheads in comparison to ebays small bit of digital data flying around in a computer network that shows how efficient and competetive real auction houses are that they are only 5% more expensive than a virtual auction house like ebay, bear in mind by the time you total up all ebays other scalling listing fees and paypal fees and tax and payment charge they are making on your postage costs they are actually taking more than a physical auction house would take percentage wise as a proportion on low cost items ? the point is sadly “if computers cant do what the real physical world does at around at a tenth the cost” then there is profiteering going on, ebay have shareholders to feed who seem obsessed with the rapid growth of their investments as though ebay were google or something, and this is the issue. these price increases are there to satisfy their appetites, and can and will be gotten away with while there is no decent competition to ebay. also ebays action portray, that though they grew on people selling second hand posessions from their homes, they now seem desperate to move away from the low cost item crowd into more amazon retail type circles, not realising what ebays niche is, ebay having very little competition is a bad situation, but its not there fault, google has the skill and ability to do an open source ebay type thing at a tenth the cost if not free, the reason why amazon charge more and get away with it, is because the site is mainly used by shop retail channels and there used to much higher overheads in running physical shops therefore amazon looks reasonable to them. from a costs perspective ebay have the easy part of the arrangement, you the seller do all the physical donkey work to make the sales happen, ebay distribute a small amount of digital data thats it. Truth is digital retail should ultimately cost pence per item to sell ? shipping is always going to have a high cost due to its physical nature, sending and receiving money digitally should also cost pence per transaction not a percentage ? the fact that this is not the case is because ebay has blown up into a non nimble large shareholder corporate with all its associated costs, and this makes it bad value for money. strangely their attitude toward their customer is not yet affecting their profits ? proving they can get away with it ? look at the number of paypal accounts listed (ok its not an active total which is more important) but when you have 260 million estimated payal users lets say how much money do you think paypal has sitting at its disposal ? they have the GDP of a smallish country im sure, they probably dont care what anyone thinks as theyre richer than nero, the individual can be discarded at a whim with no loss to that total. This is why your complaint is never heard. Juggernauts like this take years to turn aroud or hear anything. If you can live without ebays exposure to sell your item then ebid will suffice ? but is it going to sell on ebid ? probably not, because sady critical mass and audience are the things that will make your item sell, that is ebays strength.

fukushima nuclear disaster = chernobyl x 3

From a visual reckoning thats 3 nuclear meltdowns on one site, on the scale of chernobyl. ie at the worst childhood thyroid cancer, and cancers in general in young people and birth deformitys will end up being anywhere upto three times that or worse of the scenario found around chernobyl upto 150 miles away. watch the chernobyl heart documentary “chernobyl heart”

obviously japans economic situation will enable them to save more children from illness, but still we can expect an increase in these childhood illnesses. 16 years later there is still a 30km exclusion zone around Chernobyl. So Tepco’s three reactors will present a much worse situation they need to entomb those reactors now. with halflife of some of these radioactive materials, the wider they distribute into the environment the worse it will be for the population of japan in the long term, the exclusion zone should be widened now, those people should not be returning to their homes in the exclusion zone, unless theyre old and have had children and are not worried about the possible effect, the people who return to near that land, should be adult people who dont want children or are well beyond the age of having children. As its those organisms that are newly born, young or growing that will be most affected by the uptake of the radioactive compounds, dust etc.

for instance here is the countries affected by fallout from chernobyl :

so superimpose that size of fallout on japan and times it by three

see whether you can do snap with these images ?
fundamentally nuclear power is never going to be very safe technology

to me thats at least 2.5 times chernobyl and these reactors contained a great deal more radioactive material on site. so its probably 3 times chernobyl.

This might be considered a one off, but really nuclear power stations rely on trying to control runaway reactions, similar to those that occur in a nuclear explosion and keep them under control for the purpose of generating electricity, the problem is once they get out of control theyre almost impossible to bring back into control, especially if you have no way of cooling the reactors as in this scenario, and then what happens is kind of inevitable … a nuclear meltdown and its related explosions distributing radioactive material into the atmosphere and environment. Radioactivity can be thought of being a bit like magnetism, in the sense, that one one magnetic object can magnetise others, so its the same with radioactivity, in the sense that one source of radioactivity can make other things radioactive, the problem with the environment, radioactivity and the long half life of these materials, is the inevitable portability of this radioactivity and its almost inevitable diffusion into the wider environment.

Just read the “cat in the hat comes back” by Docter Seusse and imagine the pink stuff as radioactive compounds and you get an idea of what will be going on.

Also my prediction is they will go for an entombment approach as they did with chernobyl, the brush it under a rug scenario, which is possibly the best scenario ? shipping the radioactive material elsewhere will probably just distribute more radioactivity, but how are they going to entomb this site quickly ? its going to be exposed to the wider environment for many months now, and secondarily this isnt the russian era where you can pay 150,000 volunteers to recieve their lifetime dose in 15 minutes of work to clear the mess up, theyll now either have to use robots which will take forever, sadly theyll need an army of old heroic volunteers who arent going to be having children or have already had them to do this work. the tomb will have to be three times bigger than chernobyl, and they will still have big risks from rainwater leaching radioactivity into the water table underneath.

my hope is that the seriousness of this situation is gauged correctly by the government officials tasked with dealing with this situation, and that all possible measures are being brought in to contain it.

irish citzenship all it takes is holiday sex according to the EU.

According to this article. all it now takes to become an irish citizen is to fly there on holiday, on arriving or prior to arriving put you missus up the duff, then 10 months or less later out pops an irish citizen, and the parents can stay because of this, so basically anyones whos prepared to breed, and can illegally hop about ireland for 10 months avoiding being thrown out for overstaying there visa can become an irish citizen ? fucking great im sure its pretty much the same in crappy old britain, the european court of justice can go fuck itself, rights to my culture and citizenship should mean more than a holiday sperm injection.

fuck all these foreign invaders, they have no fucking respect for anything or anyone, the story of immigration is and endless story of systematic abuse of borders, generally by self enfranchising people of low morals who are prepared to do anything, I have much more respect for the foreign people who stay at home and remain as the genuine constituent natives in their own land, they are the decent real people that a country is made from. the world today is riddled by people who move to seek benefit for themselves, it is obvious action.

getting a peice of paper stamped in an office does not make culturally anything, it might technically make you a citizen but other than from a law perspective it means nothing culturally.

Things like this make me despise the EU and wish to see it burned to the ground its agenda seems to be to destroy all european borders completely and by this process create a cultureless uber fatherland, even the nazis would have been proud of. sooner or later theyll want to start flying there blue starry fucking flag all over the states of europe as well, only a little more propoganda to make that happen, and they love pumping out propoganda because they have an agenda.

being born somewhere when your on holiday should not make you a citizen of that country, its ridiculous 400 years worth of familial heritage and history somewhere native, can be washed aside by birthing somehwere foreign i dont think so, this is just immigrants taking advantage of systems.

Business and wooftah language

how is it that half the business in britain seem to be thriving of the inadequacys of government departments ? no wonder the defecit is so high were paying to many people to do to little, ineffectively and with no real export or growth to show for it, piling more on the national debt is not economic growth. Sadly so much of language today in business seems to be full of pretense and air as if noone can talk straight ?

take this add for job at marketexchange, ive highlighted in bold my favourite gobbledigook expressions, and in bold italics are my comments. Continue reading

budget defecit graph wow thats a clear indicator of out of range fiscal change

budget defecit graph wow thats a clear indicator of out of range fiscal change. and this doesnt even take into acount the national debt at 4.8 trillion !

those positive defecit years were few and unsustained, and didnt make much dent in the 4.8 trillion debt.

the cuts are nothing compared to what would fiscally be ideally sought, if you were trying to remove debt.
