Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even when its rubbish like yours, lol, looking back on it, having watched it from the comfort of television land, im glad i didnt go, as an endless profusion of half arsed uninventive public school educated/rich kid soppy mock rock bands (though this truly is the modern thing sadly) with a poliphany of meaningless names took to the stage to parade around in tight shirts and cardys singing some of the worst illegible plastic lyrics ive ever heard : just by chance example :
Oh and the “main act” controversy you mention, well i’ve seen some vain ridiculous up themselves silly people in my time (see below pre stage interview cringe “this what it looks like ? “) : Oh but he’s shifted allot of units …… so he must be great ? No! … As he knows theres just an awfully large number of idiots in the world, for you to sucker commercially, if your that way minded.
Maybe tim is making him look an ass, but i think they could both manage it by themselves. JayZ the guiding light embodiment for monetarily and materially obsessed internally insecure yet externally repulsively braggish overconfident youth ? but then what else has culture been teaching for the last 40 years ?
… anyone whos not keen on hearing that, wake up … its called an opinion! you can have one too, unless youve forgotten how, your difficulty will be finding an audience for it :)
Long may Glastonbury wain, and all the egotised twats that run such events thinking they know what theyre doing just because they can make a bum load of money out of an ever swelling new generation of twits this country breeds. Who think of it, as some natural rite of passage in their youth because there so damn un-inventive. When in reality its turned into a mad CASH cow of a machine, run by people who don’t know better. To be honest I cant wait for the festival to shrink back to a more human size and be less popular, but whats the chance of that, in this over-crowded, media manipulated, consumeristically obsessed and democratically emasculated over PC country, and not to be so damn populist and monetarist for the sake of it, Each year the festival means less, the bigger it gets.
brief history of the festival here, original entrance fee £1 including free farm milk:
And every year the interested commercial partys learn better how to package and fake the grass roots hippy esque rebellion of young people coming together to create something new for themselves ethos. If festivals were the 60’s contribution to liberty, then the free internet is the best this generation could come up with, notice this revolution can only afford to be virtual in its rebelliousness, notice also that commercial interests are working out how to package and control this internet revolution too, it is the native trend that occurs to anything really good. The festival was something in its early growing years, thats because it stemmed from ordinary people, rather than the now ubiqitous and obvious commercial interests that dominate everything in society.
Its the more human smaller stages and bands and the other inventive people who arent doing it for the money, who mainly make glasto worth it, Once theyre generosity of spirit leaves the place it really will be gone. Agreed Oasis wouldn’t have been right this time round, but the thing that wrankles of your middle class wankery is to try and deny peoples own opinions, he might be a ‘nob’ but at least he doesnt let the media bash him into not having an opinion, stating glastonbury as being / is > “diversity” is modern cheaply said bullshit marketeer cop out language, it may be diverse, but acts should be chosen on merit, not just whether they fit some diversity for the sake of it agenda, jayz has bloody retired once already, and Rap and RnB arent exactly new, in fact id say stale, Glasto needs newer stuff than that.
The worst was the noface spikey haired vain, but deperately trying not to be, presenters that seem to lead the way for this generation, who kiss assed themselves all the way through the whole damn thing, trying to as per the bloody media today, to tell us what glastos about and form the opinion of the sheep like public by making comment on the controversy and telling how its as good as ever, rather than just staying neutral on the issue and informing us what band is up next, whilst interspersing a few quips and bit of backstory, come back John Peel all is forgiven.
Positive Highlights ? well … Amy Winehouse, if you can over look the punching, which you cant ?
I think someone threw a hat at her and it glanced of her Beehive, so she started punching at a person in that general direction, the wrong one of course, but hey the bloke who got punched didn’t want to press charges, thank god some english person has their head screwed on and realises that if they did take it forward it would just just create more unecessary silly noise in the universe, She should at least apologise in writing and thank the person who got punched for not taking it too seriously, and she should learn something from it about the general decency of the public, as if it was a male star who did this the consequences and the press attention of it would be a great deal more serious, but thats the inverse benefit of being a girl right there in action. Yet we dont want to give the impression that famous people can beat up people and get away with it because their famous, but i guess she hopefully has learnt that from her ex’s episode. In america the victim would be suing for facial haemorraging, have three expensive lawyers and a book deal probably by now.
Massive Attack were so fresh and good, they made allot of the newcomers look like rank amateurs.
you can really hear the crowd enjoying their set.
nb:
Interestingly someone was waving a flag saying “Intervene in Zimbabwe”
all I could think was yeah we haven’t finished dealing with our last disastrous intervention yet !. It might be wise to let some african nations nearby sought that mess out first, if theyre mature and financially secure enough not to balls it up, much more … than we probably would.
btw the way this is tagged as rant.
Youll have a hard time poo’ing in my hedge as I cant afford the luxury of such things.
