Essential Hi-Def Television / Screen purchase advice :

I thought i’d dish out some sensible advice, since so many people seem to balls up buying hi-def screens. Here is some real advice if your looking for a hi-def capable computer monitor >…

1. If your spending more than £600, make sure the screen is capable of 1080p
2. ie Make sure the native resolution of the display is at least 1920h x 1080v pixels

Logos like the follwoing do not guarantee 1080p capability :
HDTV
Hd Ready

let me go out on a limb and actually tell you which computer screen is worth buying and which isnt !
After a heavy period of research on the subject I myself purchased, and I can recommend without hesitation the Dell 24″ 2407fpw for £606.00 including delivery.

I actually own the Dell 2406fpw last years model, nigh on identical to this years the 2407fpw, I have to say it’s the best monitor ive ever owned, and the only one on the market that covers all the bases. no regrets with this purchase unlike all this non 1080 HD ready 40″ plasma rubbish everyones been falling for with worse specifications and not full resolution. dear oh dear. Ok if your looking telly wise for hi def and you need bigger than 24″ ie for a lounge scenario etc, then obviously this computer monitor ive just recommended is not your first choice, but rules 1 and 2 above still apply if your buying a hi def telly of whatever size.

this logo does mean a device is capable of 1080p :
1080p ready

When i originally created this post many many moons ago there werent that many 1080p resolution displays theyre now are, obviously if you want more detail on the HD standard visit wikipedia here

  1. good 1080p capable 22″ monitors can be had for peanuts now: £120.00 to £200.00 even, thats the real power of market economics, pity these kind of efficiencys seem not to apply to public services, which only seems to rise in price and become less productive and effective.
