We seem to love it don’t we ? … fame, theres no shortage of people wishing to fulfill the need of being culturally significant icons, none of them smart enough to see the error of it. And on we and the media go, helping them build their self myths larger. The 60’s generation of egotist’s must be the supreme masters of it though, the ones born from the hippy-esque rebellion, who really pompously felt they had right on their side, until “peace and love” went pear shape in the reflection of the human nature and condition, they manage to keep theyre game rolling though dont they, experts at it, when most theyre age are dribbling in some home somewhere. Well theres money in it for them and that 60’s lot, boy did they do well. Man they own the world now and they are “the man”, but theyre not so keen on having it stuck to them, like they tried to stick it to “the man” back in the day. As such theyve stitched this world up, theyve almost scuppered dissent and rebellion forever, telling us the real version of it is illegal, and by sanitising and commercialisng their version of rebellion for the price of a ticket, packaging it and putting it on shelves and selling tshirts that advertise it.
You know as we all do ? the legend that is “Keith Richards” ? right ? … hmm, on They go pimping theyre brands in our faces, we the culturally insignificant cunts, just sucking it up ?
Keith Richards latest gig ?
Advertising bags by Louis Vuitton, well at least it makes me laugh, watching him maintain his money pile with such projects that leave him with the karma dignity of a cold naked granny being beared down upon by motorway traffic at night… hope you love money Keith ? … Of course he does … because the 60’s music scene scene in truth, was dominated by Upper class and grammer school boys, whos parents hoped they would be lawyers or something, but at least the childhood indoctrination abut the importance of money, didn’t get wasted on them as their own monetary fortunes are testament to, Next he’ll turn round and say i did it for charity or something, this is how the uber wealthy paint a veneer of goodliness to their self worship, by doing strategic tax write offs in a charitable way the poor cant afford too, another good form of marketing, Or perhaps old Buddy wink Annie Liebowitz’s wrang him up because she got the job from Louis and twisted his arm, theirs a vagueness in his eyes there, that sais “I’m Lost help, whats going on” lol.
The really sad power of brand mythology and self marketing and the iconification of people, is that people who can hardly afford a roof to cover their heads in the back of beyond, have heard of these egotists. some have cutout crumpled pictures of them to cover the walls of mud huts in far away places, where the icons can truly be gods because theyll never get to meet them, meeting people is what brings them back down to human beings. And why must so much human potential time and thought, be lost over these people … really ? look I’m at it TOO ! will it never end ?
