I think in simple terms the simon literaly percieves himself to have an opinion that is superior to 99% of the population, which is why I guess his ego allows him to run around browbeating and abusing people in general, maybe the poor sods been edited to look that way, but certainly he does not come of well in the programme in question, or maybe that is just the general personality trait and function of someone at the top of an organisation, whichever his arrogance and lack of humility, is objectionable to observe. But that is the filthy Modern trend today and hes no doubt only in keeping with the organisation, which by the view of the website sees its prime role as self promotion of its own brilliance ? As far as I can see English Heritage mainly preserves Continue reading

Mary Portas utterly annoying.

Shes on my list with that Simon Thurley prig, in her recent series “Mary Portas Queen of Charity Shops” she is given one job that as far as im concerned is not really in her range, she knows allot about making retail business’s profitable for sure, but attempting to turn charity shops into commercial shops that make more money, how little she understands that there are people who are genuinely poor who buy stuff from these shops. Theyre about finding a bargain not about turning them into fashion boutiques for the middle class, What shes doing is taking her monetarist based retail knowledge and applying Continue reading
Bloody Lumley class and family histrionics
Joanna Lumley is making a mistake on this issue, something typical of her class, seeking rights for people in Nepal rather than poor people in her own country, she wouldn’t deign to enter the houses of some poor people in this country without corpsing in disgust internally, at the way they live. Certainly the ghurka’s are some of the more deserving immigrants perhaps, but to be honest, from the perspective of most nepalese village persons, they already hit the jackpot, by becoming a ghurka in the first place, it is the ghurka’s who own the big houses and business’s in these villages. This retrospective act is just the older gurkha’s trying to equalise their rights, upto a par with the rights which more recent ghurkas already have, so the ghurkas pre a certain date can also enter this country. To be honest, a simpler solution, might just be to axe the ghurka regiment as a whole. People emigrate for their own advantage, im sure they perceive that being british citizens living in this country, would mean they are better off, which is why they are seeking it.
Violence is a shortcut to getting what you want kids, the upper class are teaching you threatening behavior again as a usefull tool (See Joanna waving a Kukri below kids, how she or the ghurka’s didnt get arrested by new countrywide security about knives is just another example of double standards). Especially if you have a face that the general sheep recognise off the boobtube, ala the 45 pages in google images that represents Joanna’s, almost narcisistic vain belief, in the power that should be rightly attributed by appearance alone, and the self benefiting use of it.
To be honest I remember theyre campaign, for retroactive extended pension rights etc, this is just the latest in demands. To be honest the only reason we would have chose to create a ghurka regiment in the first place, was because it was good value, to have some cheap throat slitting thugs that could scare the enemy in war (‘par example’ theyre reputation in the falklands). Now when the cost of having a ghurka regiment, becomes as expensive as employing british soldiers why would you do it ?
The truth is the ghurkas were undoubteadly created as some kind of devisive favouritism by upper class twits in the divide and rule colonial days of India, as evidenced by spychotic class ramblings on them, like this extract taken from wikipedia page here :
Professor Sir Ralph Turner, MC, who served with the 3rd Queen Alexandra’s Own Gurkha Rifles in the First World War, wrote of Gurkhas:
“ As I write these last words, my thoughts return to you who were my comrades, the stubborn and indomitable peasants of Nepal. Once more I hear the laughter with which you greeted every hardship. Once more I see you in your bivouacs or about your fires, on forced march or in the trenches, now shivering with wet and cold, now scorched by a pitiless and burning sun. Uncomplaining you endure hunger and thirst and wounds; and at the last your unwavering lines disappear into the smoke and wrath of battle. Bravest of the brave, most generous of the generous, never had country more faithful friends than you.
Praise indeed … but most often perceiving the ghurkas, in some form of class focused patronising way “peasants” etc, “faithful”, what are they equal to shooting dogs ? that we throw at other peoples lines in a war ? Certainly with the whole passage above, the subject of the peice ‘the ghurka’s’ could so easily be substituted as to be about some feudally descended dewey eyed cunt, referring to the passing of his his favourite gundog, last shooting season.
The Ghurkas, were created by people of a certain class, and are the responsibility of people of a certain class, who today still defend the ghurkas rights rather than the natives of this land.
To be honest a few more ghurka more or less … here in the UK, whats it matter? The native lower classes are so culturally overun in london and ‘done for’, it will make little difference. Something I am sure of, these people will not be living next to Joanna Lumley. Not unless the social housing system is that corrupt, but who knows it probably is, least it is if you read those rags, that would get you branded a racist and slapped down for comic effect, before youve even opened your mouth. To be honest im sick of everyones rights, mainly because ive never excercised mine ? Worse they might actually be middle class wealthy enough, just to buy houses outright after all army wages are probably enough, whichever way they increase pressure on housing for the natives of this land.
One way to cut the cost implications of this, Axe the ghurka regiment, and if this ruling proves an expensive decision, thats hopefully what will happen in the long run, to this paid for standing force of foreign projectable violence.
The things I have disliked about this whole escapade is mainly because its being led by some Highly vocal media vanity model from the 60’s, from an upper class colonial internationalist background sticking up for peoples rights abroad, when shes exactly from a class that has shat on, oppressed the disenfranchised natives of this country for years, with general dis-interest of those classes that do not admire or wish to immitate the thinking of her own..
“Joanna Lamond Lumley was born in 1946 in Kashmir, the daughter of Major James Rutherford Lumley, who was serving in the 6th Gurkha Rifles. He had previously married Thya Rose Weir in 1941, during the Second World War, and after Indian independence in 1949 Major Lumley brought his family back to Britain to settle down to provincial life in Kent.”
“CLASSOMETER
The Lumleys are a military family through and through, serving with distinction at officer class from the middle of the 19th century. They also provided clergymen, curates and rectors. Definitely upper middle class.”
quotes from the daily telegraph article here
“provincial life” god that sounds pleasant ? beats … my going to 12 schools living in 16 homes, well as we can see from the quote above joanna’s family has big history associated military colonial India, her father being in the Ghurka’s, and not in a foot soldier capacity ;) probably helped form and expand their role or something. Her interest … I doubt could be more vested, as she probably feels some sense of family obligation in this manner especially with her patronage role, but that obligation mainly stems from her pre-decedents choices and decisions, how a few egotistical decisions can practically roll on for eternity.
And joanna is not going to be around to pick up the bill in the future, like all the shoddy egits that seem to have power and influence in the current times, 20 years give it ? 85 maybe ? nah probably 95 with her money privilege and sex to account for her, god how awful, and she will probably get more histrionic as she goes along.
Perhaps when shes 80 she’ll marry a ghurka veteran or something that would be amusing.
Southern Rail cheap tickets marketing ploy.
Exactly what were the quantity of £3.00-£7.50 southern network discount tickets ? as when i checked for availability for may/june/july there appear to be no such tickets available, it is noted your little * indicates there is a limited availability, I Would therefore like to Know the quanity of these tickets that were available ? and what that quantity represents percentage wise in comparison to full price tickets over that period. Its one thing to lure people in with cheap headline ticket prices for them then only to be presented with singles at £21.00 is a partial con. And something that know doubt needs to be assessed by a watchdog/ombudsman as to whether it is just a dubious marketing ploy. ie how many tickets do you have to offer at the lower price in order to legally run the promotion ? without it being misleading.
If I was prime minister I would re-nationalise you in an instant, privatisation was not an improvement for the customer. finding profits for shareholders always make something less effecient. When i calculate in a fuel effecient car, the cost of petrol to the same destination, trains do not work out any cheaper at all, and when the car sharing equation comes in, cars are much more economic, the current pricing systems of the railways is ridiculous, how a system that is a form of mass transit cannot be more price effective than private individual transport I do not understand ? There must be a hell of allot of wasted money in my opinion, mainly taxpayers in order to eek some profit for private investors. visiting the south coast to visit relatives has become an exhorbitant endeavour, which must be considered in advance and budgeted for with great pains, having been a rail traveller for the last 35 years, who possesses a driving licence i have seen it get worse and become an expense to rival that of driving a car to the same destination, privatisation and not ‘the mcalpine road building, beeching criminal alliance of the 70’s”, may yet be the death of the railways. perhaps a penny a mile electric car such as the G wiz is the solution to all this.
Seagate FreeAgent Drives Manager Software sleep trouble
Hmm never buy one these Seagate Freeagent classic desk drives. Like this , felt like some sort of excorcism getting this drive to behave.

why you may ask ? they seem large and cheap ? well its not that the seagate drives inside them are bad drives in anyway ……… seagate make very good internal hard drives, no … read on mcduff :
Problems under MacOs X :
On the Mac you cannot adjust the sleep timer on the drive, therefore it will attempt to sleep every 15 mins, this means a long delay if you click on it to open up the drive, a number of seconds staring at the rainbow wheel, Now this scenario on the mac gets allot worse if you disconnect the drive, as it appears to have no earam to save drive sleep settings ? So if you disconnect the usb, it magically resets to a default sleep setting of like 30/60 seconds, and you cannot then seem to raise the sleep setting back up again, As the drive manager on the mac lacks this functionality ? This means that the drive access for every file needed goes from being in the milliseconds to 3 seconds, if your accessing the drive every 30 secs etc, this can get really irritating.
THE ONLY CRAPPY SOLUTION >
Now the only way to get the sleep settings back to a sensible level like an hour of in-activity before sleeping for instance, and i mean the only way … is to install a “32bit” version of windows under a PC virtual machine software running in macosx like Parralells or VMware fusion, free alternatives that can share usb drives will probably also work. I hasten to add it has to be a “32 bit” version of windows as well, more on that later, and then use the pc version of the Seagate drive manager to set the sleep settings for the drive, and then never disconnect the drive at any point always leave it connected to the machine, otherwise the sleep setting will slip back to very quick sleep setting and you will have to redo this process again.
BTW I wouldn’t personally bother to install the mac version of the seagate software its a load of bloatware flaff, and you still wont be able to set the sleep timer on the drive, and for more funtime will also install a mystery something called “notification exec” which crashes and quits at least once a restart after about an hour, took me about 3 months to realise this came from the seagate software install, as it is not properly labelled as to who created it, so when it crashes you cant easily identify how it got installed or how to remove it or even where it is stored (macos x find function showing its weaknesses again and again).
Why the download is 115mb and hardly any of it appearing nutritious for your computer seems strange, strikes me as the kind of software they’ve had assembled/outsourced in an indian programming warehouse and what theyve got back is mainly pointless bloatware. It also isntalls some kexts and the like when in reality the drive seems to operate fine from a normal functioning point of view without this install ? Also why doesnt the installer comprehensively clarify what the hell all the stuff it is installing actually does in simple terms? ie “this thing does this”. So i can make my own judgement call as to whether i need this software or not.
Most software manufacturers take the piss nowadays with standard installs, presuming what you will and wont need, Microsoft take the most piss with changing your search engine and home page too. And also while were at it where the hell is the ‘I wish it was mandatory under software law’ uninstaller ? so when i realise the software does little except diminish the power of that new cpu I invested in, I can kick it to the curb like it really deserves.
Problems with the drive running it on a PC :
The drive manager will only work on a 32 bit operating system, and will not run under compatibility mode on any 64bit operating system ! So if your running a 64bit operating system, tough i guess according to Seagate ? until their 98mb download of rubbish software and backup application stuff available here that is available for download in relation to this item, gets updated to fix this issue.
General issues
Why did seagate go to the expense of having backup software made for their drives, when there is plenty of software available in that arena, and then fail in reality to create a functional lightweight drive manager software for their drives on all platforms when that only they can produce ? which runs on 32bit and 64bit and can adjust the setup of the drive etc. Also theyve obviously spent too much money on the casings appearance and annoying long led lights and stuff but not given us control over the drive itself, auto power on with the machine and auto power off etc.
This product is indicative of products today to many idiotic overpaid marketing people getting their oar in and distorting the necessary functional parameters of a product for the headline vain features of capacity looks price etc.
No doubt the drive manager software will never be updated or the customers experience sorted, what they will do, concurrrent with all electronic box shifters today is probably fix the problem in the next generation of drives, and seagate will hold out month by month for the disquieted owners of this product to slowly through apathy and lack of rage, and limited understanding as to what the reason for the fault might be, drift away from the possibility of ever getting any resolution to these issues, and soon seagate if they haven’t already will class this product as “discontinued” ie transalte that to mean : “something we once made and very quickly dissassociated ourselves with and now wish to have no responsibility for, so we dont have to write any new software for it, because its a pain and we outsource that stuff and budgets dont allow etc, but we will self off the old stock while we still class it as discontinued”, as they are right at this moment in fact.
Or they update at a point in the product cycle, when almost all users are so irritated to already have palmed it off to another on ebay so as to escape the issues associated with it. After all if the software that comes with a product is only functional a year and a half after its release youve wasted so many peoples time already.
I mean why not just release functioning software first time, if you’ll eventually make it function properly it means you have the skill to do it first time, software updates have in general enabled software developers to launch a half functional product, by the additonal use of a weak promise to fix the problems in the future as they go along, this soon gets forgotten, We need a return to the N64 ROM style of coding, where everything is seriously debugged because the consequences financially of recalling a million carts that are wrong is to scary for the software company to consider : result : they code it write the first time round and for its release.
But software is not all bad news , no not all, theres so much wonderfull software out there, for instance theres well coded software like …… Word Counter for mac os X, which tells me, that seagate not writing decent software for their desktop drives has caused me to write 1506 words, which would have no need to even exist otherwise, and to lose several hours of my life writing this, and researching the myriad of other likewise afflicted owners and their thoughts, solutions and stress in relation to this product also. This is the true picture of this supposed idyll of modern ‘lifestyle computing’, that its all basically a self perpetuating noise, perhaps i digress too philiosophically … but anyway.
Now perhaps they may begin to realise how when you mutltiply it up over all the purchasers, how the shortterm thinking and bad decision making and time saving on the software front, from their end, was only really made possible by stealing that time multiplied by a million from the end user, by wasting so much of their time, in emotion thought stress digressive web searching, and by creating so much unnecessary noise in the minds of so many other people in general, it makes you realise how a just a little more time at the software writing end, by getting their drive manager software for theyre ‘freeagent desk external hard drive range’ to function right in the first place would haved saved so much of everyones elses time in the long run.
This drive is not as bad as the sonicare toothbrush.
Technology’s Cheap Deceptions
Dear Canon
Your products have proven to be acceptable in comparison to most other brands, and though a little pricier than others, you are often going beyond the minimum standard, whereas allot of brands will just get up to the minimum standard that will enable them to make a sale, and often purchaser’s of their gear, will begin to realise their statements about product quality were more clever marketing, than an actuality, and often gear like this which isnt trying very hard will end up on ebay within 2 years or broken and junked within 3 years, leading to a depression in the consumers mind in terms of spending, as it often seems spending on gear in itself is a pointless act as your pretty sure your going to get swindled. This is sometimes due to the fact that often when brands adhere to a standard they fudge or fake reaching it.
examples of this, which no manufacturer should find themselve prone to, might be :
• unformatted capacity being listed as capacity (everyones at it, the EU should legislate against it)
• interpolated resolution being listed as resolution (lots of cheaper brands at this interpolated should become an illegal marketing term)
• number of colours reproducable being fudged ( Apple laptop Lcd’s comes to mind)
• dpi not referring to registerable points of colour rather a point that is used to create a patch of colour. (all printer manufacturers)
• product build quality so low the product dies within two years.(almost all manufacturers guilty of this)
• un-replaceable parts that mean products die early because batterys, print heads or some other part etc cant be replaced. etc(Apple ipods, Epson etc) Continue reading
Lifestyle and stock imagery
Dont you hate lifestyle and stock imagery with a vengeance ? I know I do, Overuse…in fact any use of it, makes me want to vomit, but people just cant help themselves can they, all those imperfection free skins and white toothy smiles inside neat sweaters, filemakers website uses way too much of them, and the voiceover video guy jeesh just makes you want to leap out of your seat and throttle the company, homer v bart style, preferably with some noticeable off floor levitated choking.
Though apple themselves have been the ultimate sinners … ? … wait a minute … filemaker is apple now ! Oh darn that explains it. I think apple took that benetton version of the world and really ran with it, except perhaps they polished it even shinier still, to be honest i cant stand image visualisations of the customer which were supposed to self identify with:
Re-evaluate
When things descend into the canon of indoctrinated greatness, they must surely be freshly re-evaluated and qualified over time, otherwise we end up teaching things in text books in a wrote fashion that are never re-evaluated, all things are in flux, and it tires me to see people repeating the opinions of others or books without qualifying them themselves. The great canon of literary works is like this just taught wrote fashion and each person learns the dogma and indoctrinates someone else with it, noise transference.
Mythology Building
We seem to love it don’t we ? … fame, theres no shortage of people wishing to fulfill the need of being culturally significant icons, none of them smart enough to see the error of it. And on we and the media go, helping them build their self myths larger. The 60’s generation of egotist’s must be the supreme masters of it though, the ones born from the hippy-esque rebellion, who really pompously felt they had right on their side, until “peace and love” went pear shape in the reflection of the human nature and condition, they manage to keep theyre game rolling though dont they, experts at it, when most theyre age are dribbling in some home somewhere. Well theres money in it for them and that 60’s lot, boy did they do well. Man they own the world now and they are “the man”, but theyre not so keen on having it stuck to them, like they tried to stick it to “the man” back in the day. As such theyve stitched this world up, theyve almost scuppered dissent and rebellion forever, telling us the real version of it is illegal, and by sanitising and commercialisng their version of rebellion for the price of a ticket, packaging it and putting it on shelves and selling tshirts that advertise it.
You know as we all do ? the legend that is “Keith Richards” ? right ? … hmm, on They go pimping theyre brands in our faces, we the culturally insignificant cunts, just sucking it up ?
Keith Richards latest gig ?

Advertising bags by Louis Vuitton, well at least it makes me laugh, watching him maintain his money pile with such projects that leave him with the karma dignity of a cold naked granny being beared down upon by motorway traffic at night… Continue reading
A film about Unnecessary Sound Pollution
A film about Unnecessary Sound Pollution
looks cheesy, but the point of the film is salient. We live in a world of unecessary sound pollution, and the worst of it today apart from alarm systems, Speaker phones GRR.
also a little docco about noise pollution and nervous system disruption.
