Mountain Lion breaks disabling startup sound and retina resolution selection doesn’t exist

There appears to be a bug with macbook pros now that I have upgraded to mountain lion you seem to have broken third partys apps ability to disable startup sound ? can you make sure there is a way of disabling startup sound permanently from within the operating system by the user in an update, as this as an option now appears broken under mountain lion with whichever method I choose to try to disable startup sound, I dont give a flying **** about whether its signifies machine health and whether your seeking to dictate startup sounds on the user, give us the choices … we know better than you about what we as users … want ? I have headphones plugged in and I dont want the startup sound to always come boinging through my speakers no matter what I do, to prevent it! its late at night as I turned this darned computer on, and I dont want to disturb other people. stop removing choice from us the users ? I refuse to buy a retina macbook now Ive discovered you have dumbed resolution selection to the point of stupidity. you seem to be loosing your touch completely, if you ever think you need real pointers as to what your getting wrong for pro and business work based users, get in touch.
