Gripes from the tech past part 3 Jaguar bugs

Enjoy this Gripes blast from the past lol : Some of these probably remain in 10.5, but I cant be bothered to check anymore, I full well Know apple long ago, stopped listening to users, hence the Bugs that remain unfixed since the initial releases of OS X. The themes are often the same though the years change :)

Thorns left in Jaguar 10.2.6’s foot, will Panther be our £99.00 bug fix

Small Thorn 1:
when a window is reduced in view as list view, just to wide enough to show the document name and a little space when you go to rename that file it auto scrolls slightly to the right hiding part of name and document icon as you rename the file. (FIXED not sure by which update)

Small Thorn 2:
it reorders file lists after its opened the window, in list view mode, on slow machines this can be disconcerting because you go to select a file and then it changes position within listas you selct it, leaving you with something else selected, occurs most in date modified list view mode.(sort of FIXED had the rejig still happen on switching from list by name to date modified, but not on subsequent switches, it should always work the order before drawing it)

Big Thorn 3:
Networking seems to go wrong quite often, and can often especially in crossover cable direct mode require machine restarts or turning Appletalk on and off a couple of times, to get machines to see each other, since rendezvouz is supposed to solve all this automatically its not very amusing, also the auto groups feature appears not to work properly.(FIXED ish : Networking has got more complex in interface turns but a bit more stable, defining users and groups and deploying and dealing with permissions is way worse in comparison to Mac os 9 Still though)

Big Thorn 4: Permissions and priveledges
Seems to be an utter nightmare when working collaboratively, which require resorting to 3rd party utilitys to sort out, again operating system not working to well here, in terms of ease of use, also the permissions groups list contains all sorts of stuff but not a simple user definable group of users that can be selected, So this is not as easy as macos9. When auto goes wrong its worse to fix than manual.(NOT FIXED permission users and groups still a nightmare in many users on a network scenario)

Big Thorn 5:
The interface metaphor of the desktop has been utterly broken in macosX by the user being shown that “the desktop” the top of the disk heirarchy in macos 9, is in fact and as was hidden previously, a subfolder on the hard drive, and when you do take me to the desktop if a file requests, the hard drives are not to be found there on the desktop because it is now a subfolder, this destroys the metaphor completely.(still a bad metaphor, broken intellectually, and difficult to explain to users why)

Big Thorn 6:
The file open and save dialog boxes are now slower to navigate than macos9, I could navigate my machine purely with keyboard instruction under Macos9, now in X everything takes longer and uses more screen real estate for the same task, this is not necessary, except for the crude way the interface has been dealt with. The side by side layout being inefecient and crude.(NOT FIXED)

Small Thorn 7:
New windows created in safari auto jump to the right and if full screen hide there scrollers off screen, requiring to be dragged back in perhaps they should all be outo tabbed.(FIXED i THINK ?)

Small thorn 8:
jaguar appears to undim the screen showing its contents before it blacks it off
to ask for the password.(Im sure thats fixed must have looked silly on Jaguar)
——————————————————————->END

are gripes from the past, what demons more do we wish to excorcise, by blurting such junk on to the web. btw I thought i could setup a website know called “thornsinkitty” a kind of interface feedback community for apple.
