small sum of dvb-t2 boxes ? we seem to be the only people who are going for the dvb T2 broadcast kit, it involves a new chip being fabricated just to do it, and the current humax T2 box is at least £150.00 !! without any recording capability ? let alone dual tuner or any fancier features, poor value in my opinion.
Not a small sum in any respect considering people pay for a uk tv licence every bloody year to receive the supposedly “free†– view ! and lots of people have bought freeview equipment that is HD capable, only for the UK to switch standards on us.
The question is whats the bloody advantage of the T2 standard, if the DVB-T kit can already handle HD why did we feel the necessity to move to the T2 standard, what is the advantage ? because it better be bloody good ! so as to be justify wasting the publics already made investment, and expecting them to stump up even more money for kit to receive HD freeview when it appears unecessary ? Let alone the fact the HD freeview should have been brought forward in terms of delivery schedule considering satellite has had it for so long, and america HD freeview for ages before us, it was fully technically possible, they just stuck to the old analogue decommissioning changeover to all digital tansmission as the point at which to introduce freeview HD when in reality theyre are so many crap channels on the current Freeview transmission setup you could have knocked a few multiplexes together 3 years ago to create at least two Beeb run HD quality channels, using the current DVB-t setup, instead we have to feign greatful-ness for getting some HD channels in a new transmission standard 3 years late, to have not prevented, bloody murdoch sky and cable from making a killing out of HD standard transmission so that sky can pump more american cultural crap than we can shake a stick at, while freeview in the UK was pissing about, treating licence payers like second class citizens.
The beebs remit is to provide that content, HD or otherwise to licence payers with just as much priority as sky subscribers, why else do you think iplayer had HD content like almost 2 years before Hd freeview transmission had started as now on this T2 standard in just a few parts of the country. the whole thing stinks freeview HD is costing us more than a freesat box, and coming 3 years late imo.
And so few people are aware or even prepared to complain, in this sheeple consumer society, about an injustice they have yet to recognise as having occured. Whose ramifications involved many more satelite dishes than necessary being erected just to get HD playback of license fee payed for content, more freeview equipment, that is already HD capable having to be thrown into landfills unnecessarily, The increased degredation of our own english cultural identity, by further viewing and proliferation of sky channels whose bias is zillions of trashy content low grade channels whose main projection is of american culture, conquesting into the spyches of UK youth by the back door of psychological programming, with and endless diet of fame culture, money obsession and shallowness. These are large impacts, whose weight cannot be underestimated.
Freesat being a better idea, well its the only real choice for free HD content viewing at the moment, if you don’t mind bloody ugly sat dishes hanging from every flat and house the UK, including those that are semi aestheticaly , still currently using tv antenna’s, communal or individual.
