BT and no naked DSL service, people are being mugged for line rental of £120 a year.

Naked DSL service, excluding SDSL, is not available in the United Kingdom, but it is possible to get a POTS and DSL from different service providers.[citation needed]. The incumbent network, BT, has claimed there is not sufficient demand from ISPs to provide a Naked DSL service.[5][6]. Virgin Media provides broadband services without the requirement for a telephone line in cabled areas only, but this is not naked DSL as the service is provided via a coaxial cable from the street, rather that over a telephone line, active or otherwise.

Not sufficient demand from isp’s ? to provide naked DSL service ? BULLSHIT !

BT are the major ISP who deal directly with their own customers, thats a decision theyve taken in a meeting with themselves on behalf of all their customers without consultation. Most customers im sure would like the choice to remove a £120 a year anachronistic charge and remove the landline telephone fee and its corresponding service completely, truth is BT perceive that as theyre golden egg and will never knowingly get rid of it, or inform the public that in fact it is not necessary to have a voice line to have an adsl connection at all, they can be both mutually exclusive, truth is … that £120.00 isnt anything but, another kind of licence fee to own and operate another supposedly open technology in your own home, just like the tv licence. yet people are dimwitted enough to let supposedly privatised entitys, who dont own copyright on such technologys to exploit them for such fees without reason, I suppose without it BT would find it difficult to maintain their network.

but lets face we should be operating in an ISP provider less technology world anyway.
